Why it works

The special SLS-free Shampoo is made without the use of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. It instead uses Oxygenated Aloe Vera and wheat proteins to soften the hair follicle, making it more manageable. This creates a soft lather without the use of harsh chemicals that can strip the life out of your hair and cause irritation to your scalp

Skin Salve Sulphate Free Shampoo base has a lower foam than conventional shampoo.

Ingredients

Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis, Xanthan gum, Glycerin, Hydrolysed wheat protein, Caprylyl glucoside, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Citric acid, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate

250ml

How to use

  • Completely saturate your hair with warm, not hot, water.
  • Use a small amount of shampoo and apply it to your scalp, and massage until it lathers.
  • Work the shampoo through your hair, paying attention to your scalp.
  • Rinse your hair and scalp completely.

As with all Skin Salve products it is important not to use any other skin care, bath foam, soap, shampoo, deodorant, perfume, aftershave, or washing powder for the duration of the programme, as this may interfere with its effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Why should you avoid SLS?

Data has shown that SLS can destroy the delicate lipid layers which keep skin supple and smooth. SLS can also dry out skin and hair, making it dull. In damaging the skin it can also make it easier for other toxins to penetrate and can increase the risk of infections.

Can you use this shampoo every day?

Skin Salve SLS-free shampoo is safe enough to use everyday, but as a general rule, most experts recommend washing your hair every two to three days, though this will, of course, vary depending on your hair type.

Which brands of shampoo contain SLS?

The Environmental Working Group produced a list of common shop-bought shampoos which contain SLS. These include:

  • Pantene
  • VO5
  • Head & Shoulders…

…plus many more. There are 291 products on the list.

You can see the list here: https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/browse/ingredients/706110SODIUM_LAURYL_SULFATE/?category=shampoo

What are the best alternatives to sodium lauryl sulphate?

SLS is great as a cheap chemical to increase lather. The best natural alternative appears to be Aloe Barbadensis and Hydrolysed wheat protein. These two products have shown to create a strong lather, help cleanse your hair while not irritating your skin.
